Should You Change up Your Skincare Routine in the Summer?

As seasons change, so should your skincare. In this summer weather, we’d like to remind you to swap in some of your summer products!

Longer hours in the sun, hotter, dryer or more humid weather can impact your skin differently than it does in the winter and spring. So, here’s the list we put together for the best skincare to use during the summer.

Gentle Cleanser

Wash your face regularly, but do not over do it! In the summer your skin can become oilier than normal, so it’s important to cleanse and remove all the dirt, sunscreen layers, and grime.

  • Cream cleanser for dry skin
  • Water-based cleanser for oily skin

Exfoliant

Yes, you still need to exfoliate for healthy skin in the summer, but limit it to once a week. In the summer your skin needs hydration and protection. Over-exfoliating can cause dryness or irritation.

Antioxidants

Keep using those antioxidants! Antioxidant serums work wonders to hydrate and brighten your skin. Plus, they protect your skin from environmental damage, boost collagen, and scavenge free radicals to prevent damage to skin.

Lightweight Moisturizer

Lighten things up with a lighter moisturizer, since your skin is more prone to be oily in the summer, you likely won’t need a thick moisturizer which could lead to clogged pores.

Sunscreen

It’s crucial! Protect your skin with a broad-spectrum 30+ SPF and reapply every two hours or after swimming. Find the right sunscreen for you here.

Lip Balm

Just like winter, summer too can leave your lips out of moisture which is why you need to hydrate them using the right lip balms and moisturizers.
