Fresno Melanoma Treatment and Care
Treatments vary on the type and stage of the melanoma. For melanoma in-situ, surgical removal of the tumor is required. For deeper cases, like a sentinel lymph node, we may need a biopsy besides surgery. A sentinel lymph node biopsy is performed by placing dye around the melanoma site. The dye is then used to detect the first lymph node that drains the affected area. The node is then removed and assessed for possible metastatic disease. If sentinel lymph node biopsies are indicated, patients are generally referred to a general surgeon.
