How does miraDry work?
MiraDry works by permanently reducing function in your underarm sweat glands. This electromagnetic energy-based treatment that takes less than two hours to complete. Before the procedure, your practitioner will cleanse and mark the treatment area, before administering a local anesthetic. Using a hand piece and the marks made earlier, your practitioner will apply the energy to the treatment area, during which time you may feel a slight warm, tingling, or stinging sensation. Once finished, your provider will apply a cold compress to the treatment area.
This procedure has minimal downtime, and most people can return to normal activity the next day, and more vigorous activity like heavy exercise in a few days. You should notice a decrease in sweat shortly after your first treatment, but some patients require two treatments. The results are permanent, and most patients are able to stop using antiperspirants after only one or two treatments.
